Top Uganda Schools; When we started suburb2suburb, we thought that Ugandans could easily list their business on this platform rather than many of the foreign owned ones. Though a few businesses have been able to embrace our platform, we still need to continue growing signup of businesses.
On that note, we look at the top ten schools that have received the most traffic on our website in the last three months.
1) Makerere College School
Makerere College School, is a mixed, middle (s1-s4), and high (s5-s6) school in Uganda established in 1945 with nicknames like college/Macos/college school offering academic programs and also curricular programs like sports, MDD and so many others. It is predominantly a day school but it does also have limited boarding facilities.
2) Seroma Christian High School
Seroma Christian High School was ranked among the nine four-star schools in Uganda according to the 2009 Ministry of Education and Sports ranking of private secondary schools. The School aims at developing the whole person and says they provide equal opportunity to all.
3) Seeta High School
Seeta High School is a private mixed day and boarding secondary school in Uganda with Ordinary and Advanced levels of education.
It is found in Mukono district in Goma sub-county. It boasts of easy accessibility and a serene environment very conducive for learning.
It opened its gates to the world in 2001. It has made its mark in the education history of the country as a towering Academic Giant and is registered with the ministry of education with registration number PSS/S/203.
Seeta High School is among the academic excelling schools in Mukono and country wide with 90% students excelling at both O and A levels.
4) Namilyango College School
Namilyango College School was opened on 23 March 1902, with 13 students, by the Mill Hill Missionaries, as the first post-primary boarding school in Uganda. It is an all boys school with over 1,000 students to date, It’s purpose was;
- to train Catechists for evangelism
- to educate the sons of chiefs
It was built on the motto “Education for responsibility” which later changed to ““Nisi Dominus” meaning “If not the Lord, [it is] in vain” which was adopted in line with the Catholic foundation of the school.
5) Kings College Budo
Kings College Budo is located about 12km west of Kampala, in Nsangi subcounty wakiso district. It was founded in 1906 by the Church Missionary Society(CMS). It was founded on land donated by the Kabaka (King) of Buganda.
The original vision was to train sons of Kings and Chiefs, therefore it began as a boys school. In 1934, girls were admitted as well, thus became co-educational.
It is now a government aided A- Level mixed Boarding school under Church of Uganda ( Anglican ) of Namirembe Diocese. The current population is 1619 with ⅓ (one third) being female.
6) Bugema University
Bugema University is a private university that is under the Seventh-day Adventist church foundation with multiple campuses around Uganda that is to say, Kampala campus, for Post-graduate studies, degree and diploma courses and Kasese campus for a Diploma in Education (Primary) through the in-service program, Lira campus, Mbale campus, Arua as well as Kisii campus in Kenya
7) Mengo Senior School
Mengo Senior School is one of the oldest schools in Uganda founded by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in 1895. It is a co educational government aided school offering general academic subjects, vocational as well as technical studies.
Mengo Senior School is a foundation of the Church of Uganda but admits students of all faith and also follows the Ugandan Secondary Curriculum.
8) Buddo Secondary School
Buddo Secondary School is for all parents and students who crave high quality education. This school is mixed, day and boarding secondary school for O’ and A’ Level. We have excellent boarding facilities for both boys and girls.
9) St Peters Senior Secondary School
Since St. Peters Senior Secondary School (SPENA) opened in 1996 to offer education, it has continued to grow from strength to strength. Currently, we are ranked among the best schools in the country. In the last five years, none of our senior six candidates has failed to join any Tertiary institution, either on government or private sponsorship.
10) St Mary’s College Kisubi
St.Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) is a Catholic–founded Government–aided Ordinary and Advanced Level Boys’ Boarding Secondary School.St.Mary’s College Kisubi(SMACK) was founded in 1906 by the Missionaries of Africa-commonly known as the White Fathers and handed to the Brothers of Christian Instruction in 1926 to date.
