Gender has always created questions among different people. This is majorly because of the inequalities that come with it. Gender is the characteristic nature of either being male or female. Therefore one’s gender is one of the first characteristics.
In communications, it is also one of the things that are put in consideration, ‘She says, He says’. This is especially in the African setting. What a woman says is different from what a man says. This is inform of context, seriousness as well as meaning.
Gender and opinions
While some cultures do not consider a female’s opinion, others think the man is with the last say. For instance, in an African setting, a man is always the last resort, he gives the final answer to everything in a home.
This has been adopted by many but over time, the female gender has also come to take part in most things that were considered for men like communication. For instance, in a home, it is now that both female and male discuss something before coming to a conclusion.
‘She says He says’ has created a lot of indifference in some societies than others. It has redefined everything in other societies as well. A lot of change has come from the old generation to the new generation. Whether there is an increase in gender inequalities is now solely dependent on the progress of that society.
As some societies still think the male species is more superior, others have adopted the fact that the female one can equally do as much as the male. These gender inequalities are in homes, at workplaces and other places. For instance, women can do some jobs like Engineering.
‘She says He says’ (gender) is now a renowned topic across the world. However it is in different contexts according to different societies. As the western cultures might have adopted to the indifference in gender and accepted that women can do as much as men, the African cultures are still in the process of adopting.
