Each time the clock ticks, it draws us closer to the forthcoming 7th annual Nile Gold Jazz Safari. The countdown is on and come Friday 3rd October 2014 at 6:00pm, Kampala Serena Hotel is the place to be as it will be hosting the event.
The annual concert, which started six years ago, and originally took place at Ange Noir discotheque, and was later shifted to Kampala Serena Hotel, will this year be headlined by American RnB singer, music producer, and songwriter Joe Thomas, who will make a live performance. Joe is to be accompanied by smooth Jazz guitarist Norman Brown, who did a rendition of Janet Jackson’s ‘That’s The Way Love Goes’ hit. The two will perform alongside a five-man Tizer Jazz Band.
This is going to be a special treat for all Jazz lovers, and everyone else who loves to party and have a good time in the city. Adverts have been aired and billboards put up to popularize the event and it is evident that the anxiety and enthusiasm is building up as people look forward to the day.
The Nile Gold Jazz Safari has been sponsored mainly by Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) through their Nile Gold brand, Kampala Serena Hotel, and British Airways, among others. The theme for this year’s Jazz Safari is “Nu jazz and neo soul supremacy”.
Last year, audiences were wowed by American RnB/soul, singer-songwriter, record producer, and radio personality Keith Sweat who graced the occasion, together with Tom Braxton and the John Blackwell Project, so this year, we expect a whole lot more.
Nile Breweries Limited on Tuesday 15th July 2014, held a media launch to confirm the concert. This took place at Moringa Ogilvy offices in Bugolobi. At the function, Joe’s music was played and Ugandan Jazz musician Michael Kitanda also entertained the crowd. Nile Gold is also running a promotion “Crack the code” whereby people are to buy the beer from selected outlets where there will be various prizes including tickets to the meet-and-greet party where they will be able to interact with the singers, right before the concert.
Tickets are being sold at only Ushs.170,000 for Ordinary, Ushs.300,000 for V.I.P, and Ushs.2.7 million for a table.
You dare not miss out on this experience that comes just once a year because revealers will be sure to get an evening packed with elegant and gently cascading rhythms.
