Katonga Wildlife Reserve is a wild life reserve sometimes refereed to as a National Park located in Western Uganda along the Katonga river. The reserve protects a network of forest perimeter wetlands that support some 40 mammals and at least 150 bird species. The wildlife reserve is a known bird watching site.The wildlife reserve was established in 1998.
Wildlife at the reserve includes:
Elephants, water bucks, reed buck, Columbus monkeys and the river otter. The 211 sq km reserve, only developed recently for tourism can best be explored on foot. It is located 200 km west of Kampala accessible by Public transport.
The Wildlife reserve is approximately 211 sq km in size.
