The Vice President Opens Free Health Camp
A three-day medical camp has been opened at Kkindu parish in Kyanamukaka subcounty Masaka District. The free medical camp is happening at Kyanamukaka and the surrounding areas.
The health camp was opened by the Uganda Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi. Ssekandi said that the health of Ugandans was important and urged community leaders to focus efforts on community hygiene to guarantee the health of their people.
He thanked a group of American volunteers from Virginia USA and local health professionals for participating in the exercise assessing different health conditions. He thanked them for providing treatment for some.
The American volunteers are providing free dental procedures including teeth extraction, scaling, filling, replacing. They are especially focusing on the elderly and also sensitizing the community on dental hygiene. The function was also attended by the Korean Ambassador Park Jong-Dae.
Earlier, Ambassador Park visited mindset change activities being spearheaded by youth leaders. the leaders have been trained under the Korean model of community participation development where all community members work together for a common good.
Under the program all members are sensitized on general well being of members and also work together to improve the community living conditions by working on their common facilities like water wells, community roads, the environment and household amenities.
