Change of Signature on 2017 Ugandan Banknotes. The Bank of Uganda has begun to issue banknotes bearing the signature of the current Bank Secretary Mrs. Susan Wasagali Kanyemibwa to circulate alongside those signed by the previous Bank Secretary.

Mrs. Kanyemibwa was appointed bank secretary by the board of directors in March 2015 and replaced Mr. Goerge Nyeko who retired after decades of service.

About Susan Wasagali Kanyemibwa

Mrs. Kanyemibwa holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, a Master of Laws (LLM), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (DipLP), a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) of  the United Kingdom.

Before joining Bank of Uganda, Mrs. Kanyemibwa was Company Secretary and Head of Legal Affairs at the Monitor Publications Ltd. Her other responsibilities include membership on the Board of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU).

The Bank of Uganda has therefore notified the Public that these banknotes and previous ones bearing Nyeko’s signature are legal tender. The banknotes will be used concurrently until the older signatures are pulled out of circulation.
